Ing Justice Ohene - Akoto
Ing. Justice Ohene-Akoto is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian inventor, energy and sustainability executive, and principal engineer with over a decade of experience spanning executive leadership, global energy transition, strategic stakeholder engagement, mission-critical infrastructure, and research and innovation.
He is the Executive Director of the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC), where he provides strategic and institutional leadership and leads high-level engagement with governments, regulators, utilities, multilateral institutions, investors, the private sector, academia, and civil society. Under his leadership, ASEC has developed flagship initiatives including the ASEC Energy Review, ASEC Energy Outlook, Africa Sustainable Energy Dialogue (ASED), Unlocking Finance Series with the World Energy Council, and AI for Africa Workshop. He has also led strategic partnerships and represented ASEC at major international energy forums.
In 2025, ASEC was named Energy Think Tank of the Year at the Ghana Energy Awards. He was crowned Rising Star Award at the Ghana Energy Awards (2020) and also received Forty Under 40 Achiever Award (2020).
Ing. Ohene-Akoto also holds significant global leadership responsibilities within the World Energy Council, serving as a Member of the Standing Committee and a Board Member of Future Energy Leaders (FEL). He contributes to global energy strategy, thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and strategic initiatives across the Council’s international network. His leadership includes the FEL Visionario initiative, where he led key phases of a multidisciplinary global effort examining energy and climate developments through 2050 and identifying emerging uncertainties, disruptors, and solutions for the future energy system.
Complementing his energy-sector leadership, he has a distinguished engineering career within Big Tech. He provides principal-level leadership at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), leading commissioning governance of GigaScale mission-critical infrastructure. Previously, he held multiple engineering roles at Amazon Web Services (AWS), including overseeing end-to-end commissioning and field engineering activities for hyper-scale data center campuses in the United States, following earlier industrial engineering and managerial experience at Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) in Ghana.
An Ivy League-trained engineer, he holds an M.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in Strategic Management and Leadership, an MPhil in Power Systems Engineering, and is PMP-certified. He has more than 30 research, publication, and intellectual-property contributions including four patents, a book chapter, scientific models, and award-winning academic papers.
