ASEC signs MoU with APPO to strengthen cooperation and set up energy initiatives
The Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC) and the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
With this move, the organisations aim to set up and strengthen cooperation and collaboration.
This partnership encourages the sharing of data, experiences, views, information, and best practices to help Africa achieve a sustainable energy future.
ASEC and APPO will also drive joint efforts in energy sector-related initiatives and developments aimed at sustainability, environmental, and social responsibility.
About APPO
The African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation APPO (formerly African Petroleum Producers’ Association APPA) was created on January 27, 1987, to serve as a platform for cooperation and harmonisation of efforts, collaboration, sharing of knowledge and skills among African oil-producing countries.
APPO is a vehicle for mitigating the continent’s overdependence on external finance, technology and markets for its crude oil.
Headquartered in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, APPO is led by the Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim. The organisation’s mission is “to promote cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons of its Member Countries and other global institutions to foster fruitful collaboration and partnerships while utilising petroleum as a catalyst for energy security, sustainable development and economic diversification in Africa”.
